Dental Bridge

If you have multiple missing teeth, we may recommend a dental bridge. A bridge fills the gap left by one to four missing teeth and uses natural adjacent teeth or implants for support. Dr. Barone will recommend a bridge secured by dental implants, which provide a stable foundation for replacement teeth. She’ll also recommend a single implant over a bridge if you have one missing tooth.

Dental Crown

dental crown is a cap we place over a damaged tooth to restore its shape and strength. We can use a tooth crown to cover large fillings, fractured teeth, and slightly misshapen teeth. Our office may also recommend that you get a crown if your tooth is weakened after a root canal.

Crowns are made from materials like metal, ceramic, or porcelain fused to metal. Our office prefers tooth-colored crowns made from porcelain because they blend in with the shade of your teeth.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a high-quality way to replace missing teeth. They’re known as the gold standard for tooth replacement because they use top-quality materials that last. The parts of an implant include a titanium post placed in the jaw, an abutment, and a dental prosthetic like a crown, bridge, or denture. If you have a single missing tooth, we’ll cover it with a crown. We can also use multiple implants if you need a bridge, partial, or complete denture.

Dentures

We offer both fixed and removable dentures. Dentures can replace all of your upper or lower teeth. Overdenture implants use buttons to keep the dentures in place while still allowing you to remove them for cleaning. Fixed hybrid dentures stay in place permanently using dental implants.

Gum Disease Treatment

Gum disease, or periodontitis, is a serious problem that can lead to gum recession and tooth loss if untreated. When harmful bacteria build on the teeth and gums, they cause gum irritation and bleeding. To treat gum disease, we perform scaling and root planing, which cleans below the gum line and removes tartar from the teeth and gums. Dr. Barone will recommend regular deep gum cleanings for patients with chronic gum disease.

TMJ Treatment

TMJ disorders affect the jaw and can cause pain in the face, jaw, and teeth. These disorders can also lead to headaches and teeth grinding, also known as bruxism. To treat TMJ issues, we offer night guards to protect your teeth and recommend physical therapy to ease jaw tension. Visit TMJ Treatment to learn more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you want to learn more about your restorative treatment options? We can help. Read answers to common questions about restorative dentistry services in our Boulder, CO, dental office.

Can I replace all my missing teeth with dental implants?

Yes, you can replace your teeth with implant-supported restorations, whether you’re missing one tooth or all your teeth. You don’t need an implant for every tooth. For example, we can use implant-supported dentures that only require a few implants to hold an entire arch of teeth in place.

Do I have gum disease if my gums bleed?

Bleeding gums can be a sign of gum disease, but it’s not always the cause. Your gums can bleed for many different reasons. Other reasons your gums might bleed include:

  • Taking certain medications like blood thinners
  • Hormonal changes during pregnancy
  • Vitamin deficiencies, like low levels of vitamin C or vitamin K
  • Using a toothbrush with hard bristles

If you notice that your gums are bleeding regularly, the best thing to do is schedule a visit with Dr. Barone. She can find out what’s causing the bleeding and help you keep your gums healthy. Also, let her know if you have other symptoms. If your gums bleed often, feel swollen, or look red, it could be a warning sign of gingivitis, the early stage of gum disease.

Will TMJ problems go away on their own?

Sometimes, TMJ problems can get better on their own if you have mild symptoms. You might just need to rest your jaw, avoid chewing gum or hard foods, and use warm compresses to help the muscles relax.

But if the pain lasts a long time, keeps coming back, or makes it hard to open and close your mouth, see Dr. Barone. TMJ problems can sometimes get worse if they aren’t treated. The good news is that many simple treatments like night guards, jaw exercises, or stress relief techniques can help.
